The Gym Rat Nature

It's Monday. My husband is leaving for a business meeting in Canada later today so we spend the morning together after my son leaves for school. Which means I don't actually get to the gym until nearly noon. I had planned to do errands afterwards, but I barely have time to get my workout done before I have to rush home to meet the school bus and then take my son to his kung fu class.

I'd like to cut my warm up cardio but even 15 minutes is barely enough to get me warm. I don't have much of a stretch workout since the Cage is gone. But I've hit the perfect time at the gym when hardly anyone is here. Smith Bench Press is routine and I'm happy to get that done. But lately, when I do Smith Inclined Presses, I get a weird sensation in my right shoulder, posterior and anterior delts. It's not quite painful, but it's unpleasant enough to limit me to 3 sets. However, I have no problem doing DB Laterals superset with DB Reverse Incline Flyes. The gym is starting to fill up. I see Little R and Chatty Guy. Maroon is on the treadmill. Chatty Guy seems to hover. Most women like B and Venus come earlier in the day.

Because I'm short on time, I move quickly from delts to triceps. I go for reps on Close Grip Bench Press with super light weight. Then finish with sets of Rip Skulls. My triceps are hugely pumped. I know that Chatty Guy is trying not to stare. I'd really like to skip HIIT cardio today but that's not me. So I force myself to do 12 minutes of HIIT and 18 minutes of LISS. And I still don't know whether I'm doing it right. I put my hoodie back on because at 2 pm, the gym fills up with HS kids. Then I do a partial Mat Stretch routine, dropping into my splits without any issues.

I'm definitely putting on size. My husband complains to me that since using MyFitnessPal he's put on weight. We both agree that the app lures us into thinking we can eat more calories than we probably should. I'm using it mostly to track my protein intake. Tomorrow I'll probably do Back and Biceps, only because I won't know until Wednesday whether I'm chaperoning my son's class trip to the Locust Grove Museum, which will mean no gym time. Got to be adaptable!
