Scouting is Making Me Sick

Literally. At last Thursday's Pack meeting, I developed a scratchy throat. It might've been the holiday cookie my son kept pushing on me to share with him. Or the pizza I kept putting down, or the jugs of spring water that parents and kids were hovering over. This Sunday we had a Den meeting at another parent's house but I was already sick. My eyes feel like burning hot coals and my throat is dry with lint. Okay, not real lint. I did manage to cough up something resembling a small bright yellow egg yolk from my right lung. Boy did that hurt.

I pedal for 30 minutes on the LifeFitness and never really bust a sweat. Bummer. But I'm kind of tired. I'm curious to see what being sick does so I follow my routine but give myself a lot of slack. I can bench okay. I just don't have a lot of stamina. I pull back on the Smith Inclined Bench but do a few sets. Then I find a free Inclined Bench that's shorter than the ginormous Adjustable Inclined Bench I used for Inclined Presses. I fit much better in it and use it for SuperSetting DB Lateral Raises with DB Reverse Flyes. My first two sets are with 15 lbs because three of the 20 lb DBs are missing. Hmmmm. By the end of the 2nd set, a pair is back on the rack and I grab those to finish up the last 3 sets. The Mayor, Tall Pace, Island Jerk and M are chatting two benches over. I'm done before they get their 3rd set finished. The last serious thing I do is RIP Skulls with an EZ bar laying with my feet at the breaker end of the bench. Yes, I'm completely avoiding the crowd of noisy middle-aged men and even click the volume up on my iPod a notch.

I'm tired but I'm not warm. Bummer. I do 10 min on the Precor but I have to pee because I've nearly finished my water bottle. Double Bummer. I come back and do the Step Mill for 10 minutes as well. Then a very quick stretch but no Mat Stretch because there are two plumbers at the water fountain adjacent to the mats. Fixing or replacing the fountain. I wonder if the water will taste any better. Doubtful. After I shower, I hop into the dry sauna for 15 minutes. I can finally breathe without feeling like I'm gasping. I'm sort of sweaty, but not really. And I have things to do, so back to the shower to rinse off. Not sure what I'm doing tomorrow. My head feels like it's filled with lint right now. Bleah.
