I missed last Friday since I had foolishly believed the weather forecast for snow flurries. Instead, I woke to heavy wet snow that I had to shovel off my walkway, car and driveway. Schools got delayed by 2 hours. I made it to the dog park only to have the entrance blocked by a fallen tree, so I took the side road that maintenance vehicles use. Cold and wet at the dog park and dogs are just happy to run around. All the snow is gone now, mostly, except for some clumps in the hollows of shade under my hedges.
But back to sleep. Or rather, sleep issues. Lately I've been feeling like I could nap at 5 in the afternoon, and that's never a convenient time. Other people on glaucoma meds often complain about the fatigue they experience as a side effect. My natural circadian rhythm has me going to bed at 1 AM and rising on my own around 9 AM. I've always been this way. So, I would've thought that getting "enough sleep" would have benefits, other than not feeling weary all the time. But no, that's not what happened today.
I didn't match last week's reps for pull-ups; I didn't match my cardio stats either (except for the step machine, which even though I set the same speed, the machine determines how fast it's actually moving; today it moved faster so I got more steps). Elliptical machines #1 and #2 were both occupied, and #3 has a broken cup holder so I get on #4. It pedals fine but the HR monitor is defunct. Which is just as well, since two week's ago one of the machines registered my HR at 237 bpm! Of course, the FitBit disagreed, countering the reading peak at 128. That's a ridiculous discrepancy.
I called my eye doc office afterward to confirm tomorrow's appointment and was told they were just about to call me to reschedule. Uh, what? Apparently the Durysta they ordered hasn't arrived yet, so tomorrow's appointment would be rather pointless. Is the universe trying to tell me something?
However, it does mean that I can go to the gym tomorrow. Since I have a different doc appointment on Wednesday, and also need to pick up pies and other food stuff for Turkey Day. My kid is supposed to carpool home tomorrow with his friends. The weather should hold up. Thursday's not looking so great. Luckily, for all my husband's faults (the heavy drinking really stresses me and the pups), he is fairly unflappable as a driver, regardless of weather.
