I Hate My New Silicone Utensils

I really dislike the new silicone cooking utensils I bought to replace the black plastic spatula, slotted spoon, and ladle that I've had for ages. And I mean decades. After multiple scary articles about horrible chemicals leaching into the food, I decided to play it safe and replace these items. But I didn't toss them; I just put them out of the way in a bottom cabinet. The same for the petite black cutting boards I used to cut bread on. I might dig them all back out.

Today, I read a reassuring article about not worrying too much about black plastic cooking utensils, even if you're a dope and leave your spatula frying in an oily saucepan for a good quarter of an hour. Click here to read that article. And why do I hate the silicone implements? Because they don't clean well, as in I had to wash anything slotted more than once and then manually wipe out between the slots to remove a persistent white residue. No one has time or energy to do that for every single use!

My glutes are noticeably sore today from yesterday's Walking Lunges. I still got to the gym early enough to use all the equipment of my choice. Oddly, Wind Breaker didn't show up at all. Maybe people are enjoying a super long weekend since Monday's a Federal holiday: Veterans Day. Sore glutes will definitely slow you down. I did worse on cardio today than yesterday. Worse than Monday. In fact, this is the worst I've done in weeks. This isn't the most sore my glutes have been, but they make themselves known on every activity today, especially the step machine. Well, at least I got all my pull-ups. Not pretty but I got them done.

There are two very tall slender people in the Aerobics Room when I enter. They do a few stretches but mostly she's shooting selfies of herself. I'm not sure what he's doing except smiling a lot at her. As I'm going through my routine, I wonder if the Walking Lunges will make my butt bigger. I hope not. Then I think about trying to shoot a selfie of my butt to see if it's too big, but I'm probably the only one who thinks so, and I hope sore glutes doesn't translate into anything else. BBLs (Brazilian butt lifts) aside, no one needs a bigger butt. Plus, it makes pants so much harder to fit.

I wonder if the increased dose of Losartan is having any effect on my hypertension. I don't feel much different; maybe a bit spacey, but that could also be a lack of sleep, the dry weather making my skin itch all the time, or me worrying about filing for Medicare since I'm turning 65 early next year. In another few years I'll also file for social security, if it still exists after all the economic upheaval. Yeah, I'm that old. Weird, right?
