Skipped pull-ups, not because I meant to, but because the gym decided to clean all the ceiling fans today and had a step ladder abutting the Stretch Cage just as I finished my abbreviated cardio. Being pressed for time, I couldn't wait around for that particular fan to be dusted. The FitBit shudders whenever it hits the low battery warning, but it still records data. I just need to charge it when I get home.
The Aerobics Room wasn't totally empty but there's always enough space for whoever wants to use it. I do an abbreviated routine, skipping Bird Dogs since I had Dead Bugs under my belt. But I made sure to keep push-ups, and getting to 40 was surprisingly easy. Maybe I should shoot for 50 on days where I'm not able to do much else? I'll figure out how to tweak my routine as soon as I get used to the limited time. Of course, we don't know what the schedule will look like next week, and I have a follow-up appointment with my glaucoma doc. The hubs will have to do pick-up if it's a work day for the kid.Meanwhile, this is good work experience for a minimum wage, public-facing job. Unloaded pallets and restocked shelves yesterday. On register today. Most horrifying interaction was having an elderly woman lick her fingers every time she peeled a dollar off to pay for her items. Also had someone run off with $6 worth of stuff without paying... The store manager had to deal with that.
Hopefully, my kid (who made Dean's List again this term), will have better career and education opportunities when graduation rolls around in a few years. Although minimum wage in NYS [$16] is higher than the Federal $7.25/hr, it's not enough to live on independently, nor is health insurance guaranteed by employers unless they have over 50 employees and you are full time. Companies hire part time so they don't have to provide benefits.
Happy to report that a bevy of milkweeds have sprouted and many have buds, promising lots of butterfly-friendly flowers. Fritillaries mostly, but I'm still hoping for Monarchs. They're having a hard time and verge on becoming endangered... The best I can do is offer a field of tasty, chemical-free, milkweeds for them.
