I looked over my schedule for next week and realized that today was my best bet for hitting the gym since the next several days appear to be rather busy. The weather is a bit wild lately, with temps reaching mid 50s yesterday with accompanying high winds and torrential rain. There was a brief pause in the weather and we got to witness a huge rainbow in the middle of town. Today, mildly cloudy and temps plummeting 30 degrees into the frigid 20s. I'm not even sure when the
Winter Solstice is this year. I'm guessing it's tomorrow. Which is great, cuz I'm tired of darkness shortening the day so suddenly. Okay, I just checked. It's tomorrow at 10:03 AM.
The gym was shockingly crowded for a Saturday, especially given that it's the last weekend before the Christmas holiday. But then again, colleges have all let out and a lot of companies have employees take leave this time of year. I reach the elliptical machines at the same time as
Wind Breaker. Luckily, we each have a specific machine we prefer so there's no conflict. Not until #3 gets fixed, if ever. Then he's going to want to pedal that one, like he did before it suffered all sorts of dysfunction.
There are a few treadmills out of commission as well. But at least there is hope for the dry sauna. It's been broken for months now but a sign promises a new heating element to be delivered next week. I don't often frequent the sauna, but when my head cold was at its worst, I did want to sit in there for some relief.
Cardio was better today although still not even close to making it past 2.8. But closer. And the pull-ups were really good, until they weren't, which was around rep 17. I might've been able to muscle past the 18th rep but that would've required some minor kipping, and my sciatica aches a lot by the end of the set. Sciatic pain is the reason I've paused doing Hip Bridges. The last time I did little ones, it wrecked the rest of the routine. My glutes ached through push-ups, something that normally never happens. Both my feet went numb during Bird Dog planks. That shouldn't be happening either! All because of a few small movement Hip Bridges.
Physical Therapy is scheduled for twice a week so my next session is Monday morning. No time for the gym since my kid also has a routine exam scheduled. Then back to the dentist on Tuesday to resolve some gum issues. Looks like the gym might not happen until Wednesday, Christmas Eve. I wonder how crowded it will be. The gym is closed on Christmas Day and Easter Sunday, but open usually a half day on other holidays, like New Year's. Cuz resolutions!
